School Thirteen, the Athenia School of Clifton, is a school that upholds three universal principles: truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. At School Thirteen, we believe that every child has the ability to learn, and will learn best in a positive, respectful, and happy environment. It is our mission to meet students' individual needs and encourage their achievement of realistic goals.

School Thirteen had a blast participating in Clifton's Centennial Parade. We thank everyone who cheered us on along the route. This will be a wonderful memory that will stay with us for a very long time. Thank you to the families and staff members who participated!
This year our patrol came up with a creative way to get their classes to line up. In September all classes (K-3rd) started with a 'clap-stomp-clap' movement. Then each month they added one more step. As you can see many classes were very creative. Great job PATROL!
Hoodini is not only celebrating Cinco de Mayo, but also the recognition of our three staff members for receiving their Excellence in Education Award: Mrs. Sexton, Mrs. Kushnir, and Mr. Kleiner.
Hoodini was so excited yesterday when School Thirteen received its Clifton Centennial Time Capsule. Thank you Mr. Lesler for making this possible!
Our PTA continues to create amazing experiences for our students. Yesterday, students learned all about how important it is to be kind and caring and that bullying is unacceptable behavior. The music, songs, glow sticks and laser lights made learning this important lesson so fun. Thank you again, PTA!

How fun it was to put together a skit for Dr. Seuss's Birthday this year! I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, the children or the faculty who were Sneetches.

Aren't we lucky to have Hoodini!!
Mr. Lesler visited our PTA meeting last night. School Thirteen has just purchased enough Clifton Centennial T-shirts for our very own time capsule! Can't wait to see what our fifth grade decides to place within it!

Congratulations to Mr. Kleiner (3rd grade) for being asked to participate as a 2017 member of the Scholastic Reading Club Teacher Advisory Board. This is a great honor and we are very proud of you!
February 15th marks the 100th day of school! Mrs. McEnerney's Class is shown here with their 100th Day Crowns and projects.
A Very Happy Valentine's Day to one and ALL!
Hoodini is feeling the love this February!

Officer Phillips (with K9 Justice) and Detective Biondo (with K9 Kimba) visited School #13 on Friday.   The officers were very professional, well prepared, patient and gave a thorough presentation to our third grade classes.  They also took time to answer questions from both the children and adults.   The children in 3rd grade are learning about responsibilities of a K9 officer and this presentation answered so many of their questions.  It also taught them that K9 dogs are very important resource in doing police work.

Each year School Thirteen participates in the Great Kindness Challenge. We celebrate this week by completing fifty acts of kindness, dressing in a fun way each day, and putting kind acts first. Monday's theme was: Peace, Love and Kindness. Look at all these happy hippies!
Tuesday we dressed like a rock star because Kindness Rocks!
Wednesday we wore our favorite sports team because...Nothing Beats Kindness!
Thursday we were empowered by kindness...and it showed!

When parents take the time to volunteer at School Thirteen they receive an owl sticker. When ten stickers are accumulated throughout the school year your family will receive a complimentary family portrait in the spring. Use the FORM HERE to collect your owl stickers.
