Kindness Certified School

School Thirteen participated for the first time in the National Great Kindness Challenge. It was an outstanding week allowing students to give and receive acts of kindness from staff and students.

On Wednesday, January 7th, we had our last of three Literacy nights. The first night (November) gave parents an understanding of reading comprehension skills and difficulties they may be seeing at home with their child. At the second Literacy night (December), parents and their children went to specific courses to learn and practice reading strategies they can try at home to support their child's progress. Then at the last Literacy night, families came to enjoy a night of fun stories, dressed in their pj's with their favorite stuffed animal. Thank you to all the teachers and families that came out on such a chilly night!

At the end of October, our third grade had the opportunity to participate in the St. Barnabas Fire House Safety program. The children review with the fire officials safety procedures that includes the entire home from kitchen to bedroom. This is an outstanding program! A huge thank you to Mrs. Liszner for helping to coordinate this event!

On Patriot's Day we wear our red, white, and blue. We gather together as a whole community to say the Pledge of Allegiance, to sing, and to have a moment of silence.

Our first days of school have been wonderful...even in the heat! Thank you to families getting all the children to school on time. Thank you also for respecting our 'Kiss and Go' policy making the playground a safer environment. Looking forward to our Back to School Night on September 23rd. These pictures of our first day together represent the excitement of our new year!
