SCHOOL #14 NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
As part of Autism Awareness month, Amanda and Lynn Marakovitz wanted to increase our students' involvement in growing awareness and acceptance of individuals with Autism.   No two individuals with autism are alike and each has a unique set of needs.  They asked the students to color the puzzle pieces and write a kind word or thought on each piece.  The students did an excellent job with the puzzle pieces and our Autism Awareness Tree has blossomed!

School 14 took part in Family Literacy Night on Friday, November 17th. Our theme this year was camping and our students had a blast! Our principal, Jason Habedank, started out the evening with reading to the children who gathered around our pretend camping site. The students had fun learning to build words, playing literacy games, fishing for rhymes, writing words in the sand, doing a camping craft, and writing about camping, They even learned how to make s'mores! The children and their families had a great night at Camp Read S'more!

School 14 is proud to take part in a program called PRIDE in Public Education.  This program builds on bringing our schools and the community together through fun activities. Community support and involvement are what make the Pride program a success.   Our first event of the school year is the Pumpkin Painting Party which will take place on Thursday, October 26th in the All Purpose Room at School 14.  Thanks to your tremendous support we have sold out and are at full capacity. Please be sure to check your child's backpack for fliers advertising upcoming events.  We look forward to seeing you at future events to celebrate our Clifton Pride.     *Sponsored by the CTA (Clifton Teachers' Association)*
On September 29th School 14 was given a generous donation from the Burlington Stores through Adoptaclassroom.org that will allow our teachers to purchase items to enhance instruction and benefit all of our students.  We are honored to have been chosen and we would like to extend a sincere thank you to all that made this possible including Joe Kremer, Berto Manresa and Martin Teller from Burlington, Melissa Hurza and Carolyn Aberman from Adoptaclassroom.org, and finally our Superintendent, Richard Tardalo for allowing us to to participate and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

The St. Barnabas Fire Safety House visited the third grade students at School 14. The children learned about fire safety in the home and even got to practice how to escape a fire if trapped on the the 2nd floor. It was very informative and the children learned a lot!
