Clifton Superintendent Dr. Danny A. Robertozzi Honored with NJTESOL/NJBE Superintendent of the Year Award
Clifton, NJ — May 22, 2025 — Clifton Public Schools is proud to announce that Superintendent Dr. Danny A. Robertozzi has been named the 2025 NJTESOL/NJBE Superintendent of the Year. The award, presented by the New Jersey Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages/New Jersey Bilingual Educators (NJTESOL/NJBE), recognizes Dr. Robertozzi’s outstanding leadership and commitment to multilingual learners and the Seal of Biliteracy initiative.
“Seven years ago, when we first started, we had 24 students receive the seal. As word spread, we saw an increase in the number of students taking the exam,” said High School ESL Testing & Resource, Clifton Public Schools, Maria Juame-Aponte, in her speech at the ceremony. “Now, thanks to the unwavering support and guidance of our current Superintendent, Dr. Danny Robertozzi, 207 students received the award this year. We’d like to thank Dr. Robertozzi for his continued support and to congratulate him on being the first superintendent to win this award twice, in two different school districts.”
The honor was formally presented at the NJTESOL/NJBE Awards Reception on May 21, 2025, in New Brunswick, NJ.
“This recognition reflects the extraordinary work happening every day throughout our district,” said Dr. Robertozzi. “I am honored to accept this award on behalf of the dedicated educators, staff, and administrators who make Clifton a place where all students, especially our multilingual learners, can thrive.”
Dr. Robertozzi’s leadership has been instrumental in expanding equity and access for multilingual students in Clifton. Under his guidance, the district has seen significant growth in its Seal of Biliteracy program and continues to serve as a model for inclusive education across the state.
