"Each language and its cultural heritage are unique, and so are the societies that represent them," said Yuri Diaz, Supervisor of ESL and World Languages, 9-12, in her opening remarks. Attendees included families, friends, faculty, and members of the Board of Education, who gathered to recognize the students' deep commitment to language and culture.
To qualify, students must be in 10th grade or higher, maintain an A average in their language classes each year, a minimum of a B average in all other subjects, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Each inductee also pledged to continue their language studies through their senior year.
This year, 26 students were welcomed into the French Honor Society, six into the Italian Honor Society, and 56 into the Spanish Honor Society. Each society honored both academic and cultural appreciation.
Ms. Diaz expressed her gratitude to the faculty advisors, Mrs. Cinque for French, Mrs. De Feo for Italian, Mrs. Bethencourt, and Mrs. Stagg for Spanish, as well as all of the World Language teachers for the inspiration they provide every day.
Congratulations to this year's inductees whose commitment to learning languages and cultural understanding will help build a more connected and thoughtful world.
