How to Register
Clifton Public Schools is accepting registration for:
- All students who are entering grades PreK-12.
- Kindergarten Registration for Clifton Residents who will attain the age of five (5) by October 1st, 2025.
- The district offers free full-day Preschool for Clifton children that will be three or four years old by October 1st. Preschool options are also available for students with special needs. Availability is on a first come, first serve basis upon completion of the entire registration process. Please visit our Preschool Programs page for more information.

The following documents are required for registration. All documents should be translated into English.
- Proof of Birth: Birth certificate, passport or other legal document showing birth date of child (original only). The student's birth date must be on or before October 1st.
- Immunization Records: Immunization Form(s) should be the original document with the physician's name and address.
- Current Physical: Universal Child Health Record Form must be filled out and stamped by an American physician. The physical must be current within 365 days.

- Proof of residency in Clifton: submit no more than three of the below documents. If additional documentation is needed, you will be contacted by one of our registration representatives.

Online registration is available and the fastest way to register. If you do not have internet access for online registration, you can complete the electronic portion at the Welcome Center.

Upon completion, you will receive an automated email requesting documents to be uploaded. You can either upload the requested documents, mail them to the appropriate registration representative below, or stop into the Welcome Center at 745 Clifton Avenue to see one of our representatives. To submit a change of address, please follow Steps 1, 2, and 3 above.
If your child will be moving to a new school due to change of address and you wish to have them stay at their current school for the remainder of the school year, please complete the Request to Remain Form and we will determine whether or not we are able to honor the request.

Homeless Services
The Stewart B. McKinney-Vento Education of Homeless Children and Youth (McKinney-Vento EHCY) program provides students experiencing homelessness with protections and services to ensure they enroll in and attend school; complete their high school education and be positioned for success after graduation, so they may avoid poverty and homelessness as adults.
Eligibility Definition
Homeless children and youths are individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, including:
- Children and youths who are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason; are living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative adequate accommodations; are living in emergency or transitional shelters; or are abandoned in hospitals;
- Children and youths who have a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings;
- Children and youths who are living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or similar settings; and
- Migratory children who qualify as homeless because the children are living in circumstances described above.
