Clifton High School Student Named Finalist in State Young Composers Competition

Sterling H. Kimble, a ninth-grade student at Clifton High School, has been selected as one of  only three finalists in the prestigious 2024-25 New Jersey Young Composers Competition for his original composition "Caribbean Caprice."

Kimble will showcase his work at the Finals Session during the NJMEA Conference on February 22nd at 10:00 AM in the Atlantic City Convention Center. This competitive program evaluates submissions based on originality, compositional technique, maturity, and overall appeal.

The competition requires participants to submit completely original works that demonstrate personal style, proper musical notation, and professional-level understanding of their chosen medium. Each submission undergoes blind review by a panel of NJMEA-approved judges.

Kimble's achievement reflects both individual talent and Clifton High School's commitment to nurturing musical creativity. We are proud of this accomplishment and wish him the best of luck!
